Be it pain; be it rest;
Be it wrong; be it right—
It must be for the best.
Some good must somewhere wait,
And sometime joy and pain
Must cease to alternate,
Or else we live in vain.
Be it pain; be it rest;
Be it wrong; be it right—
It must be for the best.
Some good must somewhere wait,
And sometime joy and pain
Must cease to alternate,
Or else we live in vain.

I find that I research the poet if I want to know more about where the poet was writing from and then I read the poem over several times until I feel I have become comfortable with it. Alexander Posey was a Creek Indian Poet in the late 1800’s and wrote from his experience of Colonization – and a poem can mean/feel however it hits you personally
